POST 8/2026 CARBIS BAY UK. . . Our stay in Cornwall wraps up soon, with only a few days left to bid adieu, pack, and tie up loose ends. As Juliet said to Romeo, “Parting is such sweet sorrow. . . .” Bittersweet. Happy and sad. Goodbye.
In the week we’ve seen niece Rachel off to Canada, enjoyed a concert of two choirs at St Anta, worshiped at St Uny, had haircuts with Ali, tea with Ann, tea with Jenny and David, day out with Steve and Marilyn, a walk to St Erth for lunch at the Star Inn, First Friday film night at St Anta, and tonight (Saturday), dinner with Marilyn and Steve, Jim and Gloria, and Brian and Margaret at Becks.
If this were a bake-off the judges would be shouting out the minutes before, “Time’s up!”
Bittersweet, happy and sad, see you bye the bye.

One of the walks we did with Rachel–Carbis Bay on the Atlantic to St Michael’s Mount on the English Channel.

Through a pasture up to Trencrom Hill on our way to St Michael’s Mount.

Upper path overlooking the Atlantic. We walked along it three times this week to Lelant and St Erth. The view from the bench was a favourite of Margaret and Tim. (Margaret’s funeral was April 25).

Upper path looking toward Lelant and the sand dunes.

Ready to walk back to Carbis Bay after tea with Ann.

Curious cattle in a field next to the footpath.

Stanley, at the home of Jenny and David.

Day out to the Lizard with Steve and Marilyn, here taking a walk on the South West Coast Path at Dollar Cove.

Gunwalloe.

Waving goodbye.
The book I’ll likely read on the plane is The Granite Kingdom: A Cornish Journey, by Tim Hannigan.
Happy travels, away and at home.
