2026

POST1/2026 GOSHEN IN–Hopes lie ahead for this new year. One hope for me already has been fulfilled. I just had help to get our tablet computer running with improved memory. How freeing is that? Enough to have me smiling about packing off to Cornwall soon, flight to London and then a five-hour train ride to southwest Cornwall.

Three major storms have hit England in close succession, we’ve been reading. Rains and winds have sprung floods and downed trees and power lines, disrupted lives. Trains to Cornwall have at times been delayed or canceled. We’re keeping an eye on the weather, as is a very English thing to do. We’re keen to see friends and go rambling, as we’ve done for 14 years since retirement. Hop along.

A short photo gallery

Our Surface Pro 6 that is now being recycled since it would not accommodate Windows 11. I got somewhat attached to it. Especially the opening photo of the Winter Robin, snapped some years ago on the walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives, Cornwall. Our refurbished Surface Pro 9 is now our go-to and go-along.
Our current screen shot. Hydrangeas outside our window.

Promise in a posey. Tulip at the home of my sister-in-law, Mary, in Westfield, IN.
Baby Buffalo, in the Greencroft Goshen Wildflowers
Glass works from Cornwall, where winter brings some snow on Bodman Moor but seldom where we are in the far western part of Cornwall on the north Atlantic. One of our first walks will be to Becks Fish & Chips Restaurant, where many locals mix it up.
Hats off to friends, family, strangers with whom we are privileged to connect in the unfolding of 2026.

Hopes and hops alive!

-John
