Moon, summer’s close, Cornwall, friendship

Post 38/2024. Goshen, Indiana. THE HARVEST MOON glowed softly as I peered at it from our driveway and snapped it handheld. Of late I’ve been testing my old, assumed no longer functional, point and shoot pocket camera, a Nikon Coolpix S7000.

I retired the camera some years ago because of cloudy (moisture?) spots on the photos. The spots are now mostly missing. Can it be? I used the camera for the other pix in this blog. Has it “woken up,” dried, restored, fixed, from a long rest? More shots will tell.

Late summer’s beauty

THE FLOWERS in the tended beds next to the Greencroft Goshen field of Native Grasses & Wild Flowers have put on their late-blooming faces. It’s a beautiful nod to the season.

Cornwall on the wall

I PUT TOGETHER A COLLAGE of greeting cards, postcards and photographs from our times in County Cornwall. UK. What fun. It included uncounted arrangements of the pieces within the frame. It hangs in our den. I’ve named it: We’ll Always Have Cornwall.

The first row on the left features a winter robin, a walk of some years ago with the West Cornwall Footpaths Preservation Society (Marty and Margaret and Tim), gorse next to a stile, sheep, bluebells. The large print of St Ives was a gift from our late friend Mick, who loved the sea, God rest his soul.

Other scenes recall Cornwall’s mining and fishing history, community life in the 19th century, legends, National Trust gardens, St Michael’s Mount, religion, a rescue vessel of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Footpaths first drew us to Cornwall, and still do, but friends call us “home from home.”

This week at home

WE HAD A DELIGHTFUL weekend visit with Marcia, a friend of many years, who lives in eastern Pennsylvania. She stayed with us while her daughter and son-in-law visited their daughter who is an architectural student in Chicago. The years just evaporated as we reminisced and caught up on current beings and doings. It’s a truism, old friends are best, even as one adds new friends to the mix.

A duck creates a tranquil ripple in its evening passeggiata.

Happy autumn.

Your camera has been resuscitated in some mysterious way to produce gorgeous photos! The Cornwall collage is a lovely reminder of scenery, experiences and friends abroad.

Thanks for your thoughts on our treasured 50-year-old friendship. How comfortable I felt with both of you!!!
