Imagine that . . .

Summer Stage #1, Sunday 29 May 2016–Imagine that you’re a child again. Imagine that you climb into a wardrobe. Imagine that you go through the wardrobe into a jaw-dropping, enchanting new world. You’re in Narnia.

Yes Narnia. You’re at the Avon Theatre in Stratford, Ontario watching The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. You and your three siblings are in an imaginative  wonderland where in two hours you become king or queen, you solve the struggle of good and evil, you meet the most fantastical creatures, and you get home in time for dinner. My mouth at various scenes hung open in wonderment. Imagine that.

Squint, welcome the magic

An early morning walk in Stratford held the heat at bay. The caressing breeze enveloped face and head. The City of Stratford out-of-doors stages a show all its own– wild life, lush landscaping, river, historic downtown, walkable city. If you squint you’ll glimpse some of the magic you see in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. You’ll see scenes of childhood imaginative wonder. Really. Imagine that, the imaginative world of a child can be reignited in an adult. It happened to me. On with the show!

I’ve switched from “TLC” as my blog series title to “Summer Stage.” The former did not capture my imagination. Let’s hope “Summer Stage” takes us into the present bolstered by the best of the past and future. Play on!

  2. John,

What a delightful journey down memory lane through these photos. With each one a memory with you and also on some trips with Marty as well. What a pleasure to see scenes from Stratford, Balzac, and the home farm.

We’re off to the UK on Tuesday next week. I’ll do a warm Guinness and think of you.

    Peace,

    Stanley
