Post 39/2024, Goshen, Indiana. I’ve reduced my diet of news reading, especially US election related. I have definite opinions and hopes related to the voting on November 5. I’m hopeful that what’s better for the vast majority of people that make up the country will come to pass.
I’m drawn to the First Testament book of Ecclesiastes for its reflection on life. The book starts with an extended gloomy outlook of life as boring and as senseless as chasing the wind.
Then the writer shifts.

After seesawing through the vicissitudes of life, the writer notes that some things in life are better than others, most importantly: “Respect and obey God! This is what life is all about. God will judge everything we do, even what is done in secret, whether good or bad.” (12:13, 14) I’m all for God’s intention that people, as noted in the American Bible Society’s Contemporary English Version of the Holy Bible, enjoy God’s “gifts of work, food, drink, friendship, and marriage.”

Pausing among the posies

Gerbera daisies have held on all year on our patio. I cut away some of the leaves and that allowed more blossoms to appear. Our yellow mum is also coming into its glorious own. Serotonin and all related benefits are right at pause-and-observe hand.
Observations from going on foot

Amish buggies are fairly common around our area. This one took the roundabout on Deardorff in a brisk, pleasing clip-clop pace.

Invitations to tranquility are found almost anywhere one goes (on foot).
A tranquil week ahead!
