A beautiful time

Post 35/2020 Goshen, Indiana. On Thursday we had a rare early morning fog that dissipated as we drove to Sturgis, Michigan for breakfast with Jan and John and then an overnight stay at their home on Perrin Lake.

After breakfast I had my first visit to a Scrapbooking store. I needed adessive for a framed collage of Cornwall I’m “creating” for our den wall. Photo when it’s finished. Cornwall abounds in natural beauty. We’ve been drawn there for more than a dozen years for a winter/spring stay. The draw now includes beautiful people. Beautiful could be a Cornish word, though it also applies to our sojourn on Perrin Lake.

The wild blue yonder close to home

These photos are from our stay with Jan and John: Lilly pads. Undulating water. Squiggly shoreline. Hummingbird. Sandhill Cranes. Turtles. Not pictured: deer drinking from the lake and hightailing it thereafter into the underbrush. Blue heron winging over a marshy area. A fish jumping. Hobo dinner cooked over an open fire.

We shot the breeze on and off the lake, were more than warmed by the sun and cooingly kissed by the wind. Card and board games called forth our companionable competitive natures. An episode of Jeremy Clarkson on the Farm, an English series, had us puzzling and laughing.

Thought from our time together: I’m glad for all those who tend with care–and share–precious patches of the world’s beautiful human and natural habitat. Thank you Jan and John.

May the wild blue yonder buoy us wherever we are, even if in a fog. Happy Labor Day.

-John
