Post 5/2024. Library. Weather favorable for walking. All-clear post-surgical meeting with doctor. Packing for Cornwall. Phone chats with family. Memorial Service for Darrel H. this afternoon, “How can I Keep from Singing?” It has been a week of blessing, interaction with family in the area, anticipation and countdown to Cornwall, UK.
Ox Bow Park
We had a pleasant walk, though it was muddy in a few spots. Pine needles released their deep-breathing-worthy aroma.

Shoup-Parsons Woods
This park along the Elkhart River in Goshen was flooded in two areas so we retraced our steps and continued on the Mill Race, returning to our car we had left after my appointment at Goshen Hospital.

A day out
We had breakfast at the Hilltop Restaurant in Middlebury, took a walk on the Pumpkinvine Trail, and spent the afternoon with John and Jan watching a movie set in Cornwall at their home near Sturgis. That evening we had dinner at the Fisher Lake Inn near Three Rivers, Michigan. This bridge enroute over the St Joseph River was recently reopened after extensive repairs. I like the sign, “No Trucks. Your GPS is Wrong.”

Another day and night out
Spent time in LaGrange County with Gerald and Mary M., visited Marty and Mary’s sister Doris, played Canasta. Amish life in LaGrange County includes versions of slow but sure motion. We had breakfast at the Topeka Pizza Restaurant, a popular gathering place for Amish families. A serving of baked oatmeal with fruit hit the spot.

Keep calm and seize the day.
